Ringing in Hope

Mar 10, 2026

For many in central Ohio, the sound of the bell outside a store marks the arrival of Christmas. It’s a familiar signal—steady, unmistakable, and woven into the heart of the holidays. Behind each ring are volunteers who stand in the cold, greet strangers, and offer a hopeful invitation to give.

During the Red Kettle campaign, local residents showed up day after day outside grocery stores, shopping centers, and sidewalks throughout the community. More than 280 volunteers donated their time, helping raise over $500,000 to fund critical programs that support individuals and families, not only at Christmas, but all year long.

The Red Kettle is more than a tradition. It is one of the most visible ways The Salvation Army meets people where they are. Every dropped dollar and every shared smile contributes to food, shelter, and relief that extend far beyond the holidays.

Volunteers came from companies, church groups, families, and school organizations, driven by a commitment to give their time and care. To all who stood behind the Red Kettle this Christmas, thank you. Through your service, a familiar sound became a powerful way of ringing in hope for so many when it was needed most.
