Provide Housing

How we help provide housing

The Salvation Army’s Housing program provides services to homeless families, youth, single adults, veterans, pregnant women or individuals with a disabling condition.

A variety of services are provided in 12 counties throughout the Central Ohio Area - Ashland, Crawford, Delaware, Franklin, Hardin, Logan, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Union, and Wayne.

The Salvation Army uses the Housing First, an evidence-based practice model, to assist clients to obtain housing quickly, increase self-sufficiency, and remain housed.

    • Through the Housing First model, it strives to prioritize permanent housing to those experiencing homelessness to end the homeless episode.
    • The theory is to first address get a family/individual into a home and then start to address other barriers that affect their ability to remain in housing.
    • Client choice is valuable in selection of Housing and by exercising this choice, they are more likely to be successful and remain in housing.
    • This model can serve as a platform from which a person can pursue their own personal goals and improve their quality of life in a stable environment.

The core components of the program

    • Provide financial assistance for rent and move in assistance
    • Provide individualized case management services
      • Weekly or bi-weekly visits with client in their home
