We need help yearround to operate our various programs and services. Without the generous support of volunteers, it would not be possible to manage everything that The Salvation Army offers. With a few hours a week, month or season, you can make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Would you consider yourself a heavy lifter? We need volunteers to assist senior citizens load their cars with food boxes. Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age and able to lift 25-pound boxes.
Want to help people prepare for better job opportunities? We need Classroom Aides, Math, Reading and Computer Lab Monitors, Employers to promote job openings and organizations and schools to partner with to promote educational opportunities.
Do you wish to positively influence kids and have a passion for math and reading? We need tutors and mentors to work with 1st-8th grade students from Columbus City schools in one of our Learning Centers. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Are you a fan of food trucks and are free on the weekends? You can serve meals out of our Mobile Canteen to hungry neighbors in need. Two groups of volunteers are needed weekly for this program. One group prepares the meals at our Chapel at Worthington Woods Worship & Community Center, and the second group takes the Mobile Canteen to various locations in Columbus to distribute the meals.

We work with many area colleges and universities to provide meaningful internships in the field of social work. For more information about intern work in the Social Services Department to meet requirements of a Degree in Social Work or another degree, please click here and fill out our application which will be forwarded to our Social Services Department for review.

Volunteers will need to fill out and turn in the following forms to the Volunteer & Events Coordinator by mail or in person (966 East Main St, Columbus, OH 43205) along with $12.50 to cover the cost of the required background check. Once your forms have been processed (this could take up to 3 weeks), you will be notified that you can begin vounteering.
