Rent Assistance

Rent assistance is seasonal and for those who meet income guidelines of 125% of the Federal Poverty Level.  Please contact the case worker at your local Salvation Army to schedule an appointment.

Utility Assistance

The Salvation Army provides Utility Assistance which is seasonal and available through the generous funding by local utility companies. Please contact the case worker at your local Salvation Army to schedule an appointment.

-Neighbor to Neighbor: Assistance for AEP customers who are facing disconnect, who have made a sincere effort to pay on their electric bill in the last 90 days, and who meet income guidelines of 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. Full eligibilty guidelines and application instructions for the Neighbor to Neighbor program can be found here.

-Heat Share: Assistance from Columbia Gas which helps with up to $250 to prevent Columbia Gas shut-off or to reconnect service. Clients must meet income guidelines of 150% of federal poverty level.

- HEAP: Many local community organizations assist low-income Ohioans secure heating or cooling assistance. More information about the Home Energy Assistance Program can be found here.

Other organizations offering various types of assistance in Central Ohio include The Ohio Breathing Assoication and IMPACT.

Furniture Assistance

Furniture assistance is provided by appointment only. Please contact the case worker at your local Salvation Army to schedule an appointment.

Clothing Assistance

Clothing assistance is provided by appointment only. One clothing voucher is available per client every CALENDAR year.Please contact the case worker at your local Salvation Army to schedule an appointment.

Ohio Benefit Bank

The Ohio Benefit Bank is a Web based program to determine eligibility for benefits offered through Franklin County Deptartment of Job and Family Services. They offer free tax services are offered for households at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Your local Salvation Army case worker can help you access the Ohio Benefit Bank if you do not have access to a computer.
