Volunteer and Events Coordinator 
Deadline: August 1


Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt,  25 hours/week, Monday-Friday. 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Job Focus:  This position is responsible to recruit, process, and assist with the coordination and scheduling of volunteers.  This position will also provide coordination for events including, but not limited to:  Sporting Clays for Food, Thanksgiving Day Dinner, Annual Charitable Giving Seminar, and the LemonAiD Campaign.  Provides some administrative and clerical support to the Development Director.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • An understanding of and passion for The Salvation Army’s Mission
  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of related experience
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Publisher.  Photo Shop a plus
  • Experience in recruiting, training, managing and supporting groups of people
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships and work with volunteers, program staff and senior leadership
  • Exceptional writing skills with a keen attention to grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, think strategically and adapt to changing situations
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines with little supervision
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and Thanksgiving Day
  • Strong work ethic and a positive, contagious “can-do” attitude
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality
  • A valid Ohio Driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain driving privileges per Salvation Army insurance standards

Janitor/Maintenance Position

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 40 hours/week, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Job Focus:  Seeking an individual to provide direct assistance with the day-to-day upkeep of Greater Columbus Area Services properties.  This includes, but is not limited to, performing building, equipment, and vehicle maintenance, painting, grounds keeping, cleaning, event set-up and clean up, and transporting of donations.  Must be available for emergencies on nights and weekends.  This position will work from 966 E. Main Street.

  • Must be able to drive a box truck and pass The Salvation Army’s on-line fleet safety driver’s test.
  • Must have experience and competence in property upkeep, grounds keeping, painting, and custodial work (including maintenance of waxed floors)
  • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds
  • Must be able to represent The Salvation Army in a professional manner
